Governance is complex. Simplified governance is possible, it can be effective, however such simplified governance has a proven track record of negative consequences.
If we are to succeed in providing tools and practices that support better governance, we will need to provide interfaces that deal more effectively with this complexity.
In VSM terms, the interface we create must have the necessary requisite variety to manage the complexity of the system it represents. Luckily this does not imply a one-to-one mapping, rather it is a forceful call to apply some common sense and humanity to how we construct, build and use these interfaces.
